She has been blissfully married for 25 years; she has the best dog in the world (Max); and she has a job that she LOVES. As owner and operator of Travel Masters, she and her husband, Mike, have led trips ALL over the world. And, not just for diving! In addition to a long list of dive destinations and experiences, they have also taken groups to Tanzania to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, to Rwanda to sit with Mountain Gorillas, to Antarctica to smell the penguins, to Peru to stand in amazement at Machu Picchu, to the Amazon River to have “tea” with the chief of a native tribe, to Alaska to watch salmon jump into the mouths of Grizzly Bears and on and on and on! So, when she says she’s excited to help you book your trip – you can believe it! She loves to share the world with anyone that has enough adventure in their soul to go explore and experience.

September 1, 2014 ushered in a new era for me. I joined the Travel Masters team to pursue my passion for dive travel! As many of you know, if you spent any time around me, I absolutely LOVE to travel and can (and will) talk about it all day long. Now I actually CAN talk about it all day! I've been lucky to have traveled to Indonesia, Malaysia, Fiji, Cozumel, Bahamas, Bonaire, Roatan, Costa Rica, Galapagos, Thailand, Russia, Germany and Austria…whew! I am responsible for all our group SCUBA trips but can also put together individual travel itineraries. We have some amazing trips next year and I hope to see you diving soon!

From my first international trip to Mexico at the age of 14, I’ve been addicted to travel and adventure! Volunteering is also important to me, and while I lived in Hong Kong teaching kindergarten, I volunteered at a Vietnamese Refugee camp. I’ve also volunteered in Gypsy camps and orphanages in Romania, with schools in the remote villages of Mexico, and hosted Christmas parties for kids in the bush of Africa. I married my high school sweetheart over 22 years ago, and I’ve been a stay at home mom for the past 16 years. Now that my kids are teenagers, I decided I would pursue my passion for travel, and become a travel agent! A recent graduate of the Travel Institute, I am excited to be working in this amazing industry.

I have been booking group trips for Scuba diving before Travel Masters even existed. I started Travel Masters because I wasn't satisfied with the services being provided at that time. So, in 1991, I went to travel school and opened Travel Masters in the corner of Scubaland Adventures with a folding table, a chair and a computer! Now, 20 years later, Travel Masters is a thriving, successful and well-known dive travel wholesaler with customers across the nation and provides travel planning for nearly every dive destination in the world! We have evolved over the years as the industry has changed and as our clientele has changed. We started doing Adventure Travel a few years ago and have had many successful trips that did not include diving. We have been on several African Safaris in Kenya, Tanzania and Botswana, we went Gorilla trekking in Rwanda, we became Elephant Trainers (mahouts) in Thailand, we photographed Polar Bears in Churchill, we snorkeled with Humpback Whales in Tonga, we climbed Mt. Kinabalu in Malaysia and we had drinks with a most bizarre chief in the Amazon. People say that the key to a successful business is finding something you love to do. I have certainly done that with Travel Masters! I LOVE to book, sell, plan trips!! I am the luckiest girl in the world for getting to do what I love every single day. I have the best job and the best customers. I work with my husband all day (in Scubaland Adventures) and my dog comes to work with me. What else is there?! My goal for Travel Masters is simply to continue providing quality service and quality products. I want to continue attracting high quality customers that appreciate the journey and not just the destination. And, I want to continue sharing the world with people I meet. I love that Travel Masters has been instrumental in opening the eyes, hearts and minds of so many people.

If someone had told me in 1987 that I would open a dive shop that would grow into the largest and most successful dive shop in Austin and maybe all of Texas, I would have said they were crazy! But, here we are in 2011 and that's exactly what I have! It all started quite innocently; I bought a few sets of gear and planned to teach private classes. One thing led to another and I opened a tiny little store with only 700 sq ft. That 700 sq ft housed the classroom, retail area, office, bathroom, compressor, inventory and repair room! Scubaland now owns a 5000 sq ft building with a pool and has two more locations around Austin. We have our own in-store travel agency (Travel Masters). And, we have started The Swim School, also. In the early days, I worked the store and taught the classes. It was a tough start! But, teaching people to dive and starting them on a journey of discovery was challenging, satisfying and a whole lot of fun. The growth of the business has all been a natural progression. Travel is such an essential part of diving that starting a Travel Agency was the only thing that made sense. Once someone learns to dive, they MUST travel. With all of those great opportunities available to divers, they really just need to get out there and see what it's all about! Our success has been due to great customer service. We have been blessed with staff that love to dive and love to share. And, this shows in the service they provide to our customers.

I love to travel! Growing up I enjoyed our annual family vacations all over the United States and since 2005 I have had a chance to travel internationally with Scubaland and Travel Masters. I have been to Bonaire, Roatan, Cozumel, Bahamas, Malaysia, Fiji, Palau, Indonesia, Galapagos, Guadalupe Island and Russia and am always looking forward to my next adventure. One of my favorite destinations to dive in the Caribbean is Bonaire where you can dive 24/7 with their boat and shore diving. My favorite dive destination in the world is a toss up between Indonesia and Malaysia. There are hundreds of more species of fish and coral in that part of the world so everywhere you look you see something new! I enjoy getting to know and diving with new travelers to the group and catching up with our frequent travelers. If you are needing a dive buddy, wanting to try a new restaurant, need help getting checked in at the airport, just let me know! I hope to see you soon on one of our group trips!

I am the president of Scubaland Adventures as well as being a PADI Course Director. I was certified as diver in 1999 (last century), a PADI Instructor in 2001, and a PADI Course Director in 2007. I have traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean, South Pacific, Eastern Pacific, and Asia. Whale Sharks, Great White Sharks, Manta Rays, and soon, Humpback Whales are just a few of the ocean’s denizens that I consider my friends. I was born in Illinois (hey, I didn’t have any say in the matter), grew up in Missouri (still not my decision) and I still have the license plate off the car I was conceived in! Yeah, Mom loves it when I tell people that. Luckily I eventually made it to Texas where I discovered a whole new world (or at least a country). Then one day I wandered in to a local dive shop known as Scubaland Adventures and my well planned life of a wife, 2.5 kids, a 9 to 5 job making six figures, and a two-week vacation at a time share spun horribly and irrevocably off track. Instead, I went on permanent vacation, became a SCUBA Instructor, and eventually opened a dive shop. My Dad still asks me when I think I might be ready to go back to work. Sorry Dad. It’s probably not going to happen! My life is kind of a working vacation with horrible hours, low pay, and an unrelenting boss. No, Jennifer, I am not talking about you. If it weren’t for the people I get to hang out with and various places around the world that I get to go to “work” I wouldn’t enjoy doing what I’m doing but I can’t think of a job I’d rather have! I’m still amazed every time that paycheck shows up. It’s a good thing they don’t know I’d be doing this for free! My passions are dive travel and underwater imaging. I’ve travelled extensively in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Caribbean, and the South Pacific. I have a particular affinity for Indonesian liveaboard dive boats. I also use a variety of underwater imaging tools ranging from point and shoot cameras to DSLRs. For video work I’ve used a number of HD systems including GoPro. I also do a lot of digital editing – both still image and video production. In the Spring of 2016 I have the good fortune to be one of the photo pros for the Critters Gone Wild event being held at Sipadan Water Village Resort in Borneo, Malaysia. It’s my favorite thing to do in my favorite place to do it! Favorite Photos Favorite Videos

I grew up about twenty miles from Lake Michigan in Illinois and was always near water. In high school I went to The Lake every weekend, it was the place to go. Later I started cruising all over the Caribbean with my wife and snorkeled everywhere. Well we went to Hawaii and I fell in love with the coral you could see from snorkeling, and made my mind up that as soon as I got back to Dallas I would learn how to scuba. The day after I got back, I went to the local dive shop and signed up, and got certified. Being the type A I am I went on a trip to the flower gardens and got my advanced. It wasn’t long after that I was hauling people out of the water and got my rescue. At that point I said may as well be a dive master and completed that course. I found out that you needed to be an AI to be a complete assistant. Moved on and became an instructor. Outside of diving, which is my passion, I run distance races including the Boston Marathon. At a very young age I idolized Jacques Cousteau and knew I wanted a career that involved Scuba diving. Well, I never got to work on the Calypso, but I did become a PADI Scuba Instructor. I love to Fresh and Saltwater fish as much as I have a passion for Scuba diving and taking underwater pictures. I became certified as a PADI diver at the age of 15 in Houston, Texas where I grew up. I worked as a Manager of Sea Sports Scuba in Houston for seven years. I was privileged enough to have lead group trips to many dive destinations. In 1996, I moved to Austin and started working at Scubaland Adventures. I have been fortunate enough to have traveled to 25 different dive destinations ,some of which include; Papua New Guinea, Fiji ,Palau, Rea Sea ,Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, Sipadan (Malaysia),Cayman Islands and Cozumel to name a few! As a Scuba Instructor I love to see a new diver’s reaction as they become excited about the new experience. As a trip leader I love to turn people on to new dive destinations and share great memories above and below the water. In the process of running many group trips I have learned to anticipate customer needs. I am a good problem solver and make our customers my # 1 priority on the trip. I consider myself easy going and very enthusiastic about my love and passion for life and scuba diving. In my 51 years of life, I have learned that the really important things in life are the memories that we share with family and friends.

Growing up on a farm in southwestern Colorado, I never imagined I would someday be a world traveler. My early days were spent feeding cows, breaking ice from troughs, and so on. I always loved the water, and spent countless hours swimming in my grandparent’s pool. I tried all sorts of ways to extend my bottom time in that pool, but ultimately nothing worked – you can’t breathe from a garden hose underwater! A few years later, I was certified as an open water diver, and spent many weekends of the early 90’s diving in the Blue Lagoon in Huntsville, Texas. At that time, trips to places like Cozumel seemed like a dream. After my time in the US Army, a move to Austin allowed me to re-connect with scuba diving with Scubaland. A trip to Cozumel forever altered the course of my life. With an ignited passion for diving, I eventually became a PADI instructor, teaching classes though Scubaland Adventures. Introducing people to blowing bubbles underwater is an amazing experience every time. I have been fortunate to join Travel-Masters group trips to some of the most amazing destinations in the world. The life-long friends made along the way make these trips even better. I look forward to adding to this list, but for now my favorite dive destinations include: Sipadan Water Village – Borneo Malaysia Kasawari - Lembeh Strait, Indonesia Socorro (Revillagigedos Archipelago) – Mexico North Atolls – Maldives One of my biggest passions is photography, especially underwater! I look forward to every trip and the challenge of capturing the amazing beauty below the water’s surface. Of course this means “traveling light” is out of the question for the most part! My “day job” is in IT, designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise systems management infrastructure.
